When an older loved one needs help to stay comfortable, safe, and independent at home, home care services are an ideal solution. But what about when a loved one’s caregiver leaves after their shift? Unless the older loved one is receiving 24/7 care, there are intervals where they will be alone and without immediate access to assistance.

For many, 24/7, around-the-clock care isn’t preferred, financially viable, or realistic. We recognize that interruptions in care may cause anxiety for family caregivers, and safety concerns for older adults. For this reason, we’ve invested heavily in exploring nonintrusive and effective methods to close these gaps.

We are excited to announce the launch of our new collaboration with StackCare, a new technology for elder safety, and to explain how it can elevate the level of care Abby Senior Care can provide to your family!

With SmartCare by StackCare, you receive peace of mind in knowing a family member has technology in place that will provide an added layer of assistance between caregiver visits.

How Does SmartCare Technology Work?

You are likely aware of other types of security tech tools, such as wearable pendants and cameras. In contrast to those devices, SmartCare is inconspicuous and will not hinder a family member’s way of life – because they do not need to wear anything at all or stress over being recorded on camera. Instead, SmartCare uses tiny, discreetly-situated motion sensors that are placed throughout the home. In a matter of minutes, the system is up and running.

From there, artificial intelligence learns about the person’s typical behaviors, activities, and routines by collecting data supplied by the motion sensors. Instant notifications are delivered to you and/or our care team to advise of any alterations in motion patterns that could be a cause for concern. For example, if a loved one’s trips to the bathroom are increasing, it could suggest a UTI or other health concern.

These real-time updates allow for immediate, proactive intervention, to decrease the possibility of hospitalizations or the need for the individual to face a move to an assisted living facility.

What Are the Benefits of SmartCare?

Perhaps the biggest advantage is the peace of mind you’ll have, knowing the person you love is safe and well. With daily updates, you can feel secure knowing that the older loved one has had a good night’s sleep and is participating in normal activities around the home.

Further benefits include:

  • No batteries to change, cameras, or microphones
  • No feeling of intrusion that a camera might cause
  • A chat function to easily share information with family members
  • Built-in thermometers to guarantee the home temperature is comfortable
  • Around-the-clock access to real-time insights and alerts
  • Nothing the older adult has to remember to wear or press for help
  • Privacy protection
  • Easy installation and operation
  • And much more

There Are a Number of Ways to Use SmartCare

We recognize that each person’s needs are unique. That’s why we provide a number of different ways for you to incorporate SmartCare into a loved one’s care routine:
